NSW Tour of Honour - Ita Buttrose AO OBE, Corey Payne and Ron Allum
Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose, NSW Young Australian of the Year Corey Payne and NSW Senior Australian of the Year Ron Allum will visit Sydney schools on Wednesday 10 April.
The visit is part of the Australian of the Year Awards program’s Tour of Honour, which brings the recipients of the nation’s most respected honour into contact with school students and community members to share their inspiring stories.
The Tour of Honour will see the award recipients visit schools in Concord, Punchbowl and Strathfield, giving students the opportunity to learn more about the experiences of these recipients in their various community efforts.
Ita Buttrose is the youngest ever editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly and since this role, Australians have been inspired by her passion and determination to succeed, not only in publishing and business, but in community and social work. Her distinguished career has led all Australians to proudly acknowledge her as one of our most significant Australian icons.
“Being awarded the 2013 Australian of the Year Award is a great way to highlight that all Australians can achieve their goals, no matter their age, gender or background. I am looking forward to getting out in to the community to share this message and inspire our Australian youth, who will be the future leaders of our nation,” Ita Buttrose said.
Nominations for the 2014 Australian of the Year Awards are open now. Nominations for all award categories can be made online at www.australianoftheyear.org.au or via a nomination form, available from any branch of Major Sponsor the Commonwealth Bank from early June.
