EVERYONE KNOWS A LOCAL HERO IN THEIR COMMUNITY

As the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship I am delighted to support Australia's Local Hero Award.

My department and I are honoured to sponsor this award to acknowledge that Australia’s greatest resource is our people.

We all know a local hero.  They’re often a quiet achiever – who steps forward in the face of adversity. They’re someone who sees a need and offers a hand. And they do it without ever wanting any acknowledgment or recognition.

Nominating someone for Australia's Local Hero Award is our way of showing them that we recognise and appreciate their efforts.  It's one way we can say thank you.

I encourage all Australians to nominate someone for this prestigious award to give them our heartfelt thanks and wish them all the best.
