2007 NSW Young Australian of the Year Nominee
Simon MalianState: New South Wales
Simon Malian is a young man endowed with extraordinary drive, an abundance of creative energy, and a relentless desire to enrich the lives of people by delivering technology globally to those without the resources to do so themselves. Simon realised that business support services were virtually exclusively geared towards commercial organisations, leaving non-profit organisations and charities to their own devices. He dreamt of a way to allow non-profits to gain access to the same level of expertise as the corporate heavyweights, bypassing extravagant consultancy fees and redirecting their savings to their humanitarian efforts. Simon is realising his dream through the Malian Foundation. Its groundbreaking Empowering Communities Program now boasts 620 clients across 55 countries. It is indeed a fine testament to Simon’s indelible spirit, generosity of time, and in-built social conscience that strives to help charitable organisations through his philosophy of ‘sharing our hopes and living our dreams’.
