Jenny ScottTown: Darwin
State: Northern Territory
Jenny Scott lives for the Dar win Chorale, the leading community choir in Darwin since its inception in 1984. She has been an ongoing and instrumental force behind the Chorale since the beginning , serving continuously on the committee as a committee member, secretary, chair on three occasions, and production manager for numerous concerts. Despite her personal battle with cancer, as its current President she has volunteered many hours to the work of the choir. One of her greatest ambitions for the choir was achieved in 2008 when she successfully organised and managed an exchange tour between the Dar win Chorale and an East Timorese combined churches choir. A strong bond has since developed bet ween the choirs, helping to strengthen ties bet ween the wider communities of Dili and Darwin. Jenny was also instrumental in founding Superstar Productions, a production company responsible for bringing professional stage shows to Darwin. In addition, her experience with breast and bone cancer led her to join the Cancer Council of NT, where she has served for more than 10 years as a volunteer counsellor. Despite still regularly undergoing chemotherapy, she has worked just as tirelessly strengthening the cancer support net work as the Dar win Chorale, reflecting her genuine passion for her community.
