Civil libertarian

Bill Rowlings devotes his time to promoting civil liberties and human rights. A former journalist and public relations consultant, he worked on Fleet Street in London, as editor of the Papua New Guinea daily newspaper, and on The Australian, the Daily Telegraph and the Sun Herald. Bill now works full time on Civil Liberties Australia, a website tackling issues of social equity. In this voluntary role he reviews proposed legislation and keeps watch on the actions and inactions of police, security forces, politicians and government departments and agencies.

Bill has a deeply felt commitment to acting for ordinary citizens. He believes in a fair go for all, regardless of race, class, gender or religion. He works tirelessly in a voluntary capacity to help keep Australia a free and open society, and is greatly respected for his efforts.
