Professor Tony McMichael is the world’s leading scholar and commentator on the relationship between global climate change and human health. An epidemiologist, he was previously Professor of Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and is currently President of the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology. In the 1990s, Professor McMichael pioneered research on the health risks of climate change, and he now heads the research program at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University which is the largest and most internationally active program of its kind in the world.
He has been an advisor and consultant on environmental health issues to the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Environment Program, the World Bank, and other international bodies.
