Danny GreenState: Western Australia
Anti-violence advocate and sportsman
Sickened by a string of fatal one-punch attacks around the country, four-times world boxing champion Danny Green decided enough was enough. Funding the production of three hard-hitting educational television commercials, Danny launched the Coward's Punch Campaign. Since then, Danny’s advocacy has gained national momentum, and he has become a ‘go to’ spokesperson in Australia for the movement working to reduce these senseless acts of violence. He’s talked to hundreds of young people across the country, giving them strategies to avoid violent situations. He is also calling on governments to change legislation so the “king hit” is more accurately called the “coward’s punch”. When he’s not in the ring, Danny is always looking to help others. He’s led a fight against hunger in schools, created a program to tackle obesity, and has even been awarded for his bravery after saving a drowning man. With steely determination, Danny is speaking out to ensure that young Australian men understand the difference between toughness and thuggery.
