Writers amongst the Young Alumni

Two of our Young Australian of the Year Alumni have recently released books - congratulations 2014 Victorian Young Australian of the Year, Daniel Flynn of Thankyou and 2015 QLD Young Australian of the Year Yassmin Abdel-Magied of Youth Without Borders.

Daniel Flynn has released a book Chapter One - Powerless without You which follows the journey of three Australian kids from Melbourne with zero business experience who started Thankyou. Since the book launched it is almost half way to reaching their goal of raising $1.2 million in 20 days. Interestingly, there is no set price for the book and they are asking people to pay what they think the book is worth. All profits from Chapter One will go towards funding the future of Thankyou including the launch of their Thankyou Baby range.

At 21, Yassmin Abdel-Magied found herself working on a remote Australian oil and gas rig; she was the only woman and certainly the only Sudanese-Egyptian-Australian background Muslim woman. With her hijab quickly christened a 'tea cosy' there could not be a more unlikely place on earth for a young Muslim woman to want to be. Yassmin's Story tells us how she got there, where she is going, and how she wants the world to change. For more information visit here.
