Victorian Young Australian of the Year 2009 receives an award
Leigh Mathews, who received the Victorian Young Australian of the Year Award 2009, has just been announced as a winner in the Junior Chamber International’s 10 Outstanding Young Persons of the World Awards.
Leigh was honoured for her work with the Future Cambodia Fund which she founded as a 23 year old. Her organisation works with disadvantaged children and their families.
Remarkably, Leigh has joined the ranks of fellow Australian, action star Jackie Chan and musician Elvis Presley who were previous recipients of this award.
She will join the nine other winners at a ceremony in Tunisia in November.
