Vale Dr Clem Jones AO
The National Australia Day Council is saddened by the passing of Queensland Senior Australian of the Year 2007 Dr Clem Jones AO.
Clem was a well-known and well-loved Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1961 to 1975 and a renowned contributor to both the city and the state of Queensland. Clem was a tireless worker and visionary whose leadership and energy benefited civic, professional and political organisations such as the Western Queensland Flood Appeal, the Constitutional Convention, the Darwin Reconstruction Commission, the World Masters Games and Queensland football.
Our thoughts are with Clem's family and many friends at this time. He will be missed by those who knew him and by the many people who have benefited from his contributions.
