Vale Dame Elisabeth Murdoch
The National Australia Day Council sends its condolences to the family and many friends of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE, who was Victoria's Senior Australian of the Year 2007.
Dame Elisabeth touched the lives of many people with her generosity of spirit and compassion. A true philanthropist, she devoted her life to helping others and making a difference. As a young woman she volunteered her time to help those in need and throughout her long life she was a passionate fundraiser and contributor to more than 100 charities and organisations.
"Dame Elisabeth's energy, warmth and sense of social responsibility stands as an example to us all to do what we each can to help others," said National Australia Day Council CEO Graham West.
"She will be remembered as a kind and elegant lady whose strength of character and love of people will be remembered and respected."
