Live Below the Line
This week, Simon McKeon, Australian of the Year 2011, is taking part in the awareness and fundraising campaign Live Below the Line.
Those who get on board the initiative will have a taste of extreme poverty from Monday 16 until Friday 20 May, when they attempt to feed themselves on no more than $2 per day. It allows participants to better understand the daily challenges faced by the 1.4 billion people currently trapped in the cycle of extreme poverty.
The initiative of the Oaktree Foundation and the Global Poverty Project raises money for antipoverty projects and encourages empathy for the struggles many face daily.
