Dr Fiona Wood is the most trusted Australian

30 June 2008

Dr Fiona Wood, Western Australian burns surgeon and Australian of the Year 2005 has been voted Australia's most trusted person for the fourth year in a row.

The Perth doctor and mother of six has won the annual Reader's Digest Trust Survey since its inception in 2005 - the same year she was named Australian of the Year.

Dr Wood pioneered "spray-on skin" for use in treating burns victims and last year assisted with the emergency care of airplane crash victims of the Yogyakarta disaster in Indonesia.

A random sample of 750 Australians were asked who they trusted most and what professions they found to be most trustworthy.

Cancer researcher and Australian of the Year 2006, Ian Frazer, came in second followed by Clean up Australia founder and Australian of the Year 1994, Ian Kiernan.
