Each bollard in the Australian of the Year Walk represents a note on the musical stave, so that the tune of ‘Advance Australia Fair’ is written along the shores of the lake.

The walk celebrates the award recipients of the Australian of the Year Awards on the south shore of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. It features five parallel metal strips set flush to the ground with a series of bollards with plaques to honour each year’s recipients.

The Australian of the Year Walk was opened in 2006 by former Prime Minister John Howard.
