20 July 2010

On Friday 23 July, Corporal Mark Donaldson VC, Young Australian of the Year 2010, will reward outstanding young achievers when he presents the Aussie of the Month Awards at North Cottesloe Primary School.

Corporal Donaldson VC will present the awards and speak to the children highlighting the connection between the Aussie of the Month and Australian of the Year Awards and talk about the similarity of values recognised by the two Award programs.

Mr Graham Partridge, Executive Director of the Australia Day Council of WA, said that these awards encourage students to contribute to their school and general community and reward them for demonstrating positive values like civic pride.

“We’re delighted that North Cottesloe Primary School has recently joined the Aussie of the Month Program which is now being presented in over 440 schools throughout Western Australia and the children are very excited about having a true Australian Hero present them with their awards.” said Mr Partridge.

The Aussie of the Month is a school-based awards program run by the Australia Day Council of WA encouraging Australian pride and spirit among primary school children. Award winners receive an Aussie of the Month badge, a certificate and a set of Pilot Pens.

The Aussie of the Month program in Western Australia is sponsored by RAC, Pilot Pens and the Office for Youth.
