| Sir Murray Tyrrell KCVO CBE 1977 * AwardOffice Secretary to the Governor GeneralSir Murray Tyrrell's work as Official Secretary to Governors-General resulted in several commendations. These included the Order of the British Empire - Commander (Civil), the Royal Victorian Order - Commander, and later, the Royal Victorian Order - Knights Commander. In 1963, he was also the recipient of a suggestion made by HRH Prince Phillip while visiting Australia, regarding Australia's involvement in conservation. His suggestion, made to Sir Murray, was that Australia establish a branch of the World Wildlife Fund. From that suggestion, the Australian Conservation Foundation was established in the second half of 1964. |
