NATIONAL AUSTRALIA DAY COUNCIL WELCOMES
ADAM GILCHRIST AS NEW CHAIR
The National Australia Day Council is delighted to welcome Adam Gilchrist as its new Chair.
Former Australian cricketer Gilchrist, was announced today as the Chair of the National Australia Day Council (NADC) by Senator the Hon John Faulkner, Special Minister of State and Cabinet Secretary.
"Adam's trademark sense of fair play and pride in being Australian will be an important asset to the work of the National Australia Day Council and our national day," said NADC Acting Chair Ms Shelley Reys.
"Australia Day and the Australian of the Year Awards have grown from strength to strength in recent years, with more people than ever participating.
"Adam will be an important part of that growth - his well-known leadership skills will be an asset to us in that process.
"The NADC board and I look forward to working with him."
The National Australia Day Council leads a network of state, territory and local committees in presenting Australia Day celebrations and the Australian of the Year Awards program.
