Unable to find the perfect lipstick, King started making her own. Starting with a $40 000 investment, in less than three years she had built a cosmetic empire with an annual turnover of $8 million. At the age of 22 she was managing director of Poppy Industries and a member of the federal Government's Small Business Council.
